On July 8, seven Pittsburgh Christians joined with a coalition of over 100 people in Washington, D.C. to disrupt the annual meeting of Christians United For Israel (CUFI). Boasting 7 million members, 5,000 CUFI members gathered in the Convention Center hosting speakers like Vice President Mike Pence and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. There we confronted their misuse of Christianity as a moral cover for the violence perpetrated by the Israeli government on the Palestinian people.
In addition to interrupting Mr. Pence’s speech, we blocked the main entrances to the conference and the nearby intersection to bear witness.
The lead organizer of the protest was Friends of Sabeel North America (FOSNA), a Christian Voice for Palestine.
Local FOSNA members and others are now planning a Walkathon for Sat., Oct. 19 at 10 AM beginning at Schenley Plaza in Oakland. Proceeds from the Walk will benefit the UN Relief and Works Agency Programs for Children in Gaza. Consider participating.
