Ok, ok, maybe Wasi Mohamed isn’t exactly new. He’s been helping out in all the important spaces for years now and is well-known across the interfaith communities, progressive political circles, and any social justice realm you can think of in Pittsburgh and beyond. In fact, if you haven’t seen Wasi around, where have you been?
Don’t worry, we’ll all have the opportunity to bask in the glow of the diverse, young, and powerful community that Wasi’s developed at this year’s New Person Award Dinner!
On June 25th from 6-9pm, we’ll pack the Letter Carriers Hall in the North Side with members, old and new, plus anyone who knows what incredible impacts Wasi has made and the Merton Center is creating 365 days a year.
What else is new, you will make appearances! Live music and a live auction featuring local artwork and donations from local businesses! And our yet-to-be-announced emcee will surely roll out a few more surprises to make it a TMC-worthy party.
Throughout the year, the Thomas Merton Center provides the endless labor of love and peace in the form of events, actions, and strategies to create a more just society. By building coalitions here and abroad, holding our elected officials accountable and publishing the free, monthly paper that now lies at your fingertips, TMC works non-stop on so many different fronts, even board members can’t list all of their projects!
The New Person Award not only gives supporters a chance to honor Pittsburgh’s most passionate leaders, but also serves to sustain the organization all year round. A huge shout out to the many generous event sponsors who are making it all come together for this 2019 Award Dinner! Deadline for ads and sponsorship is June 7th.
Everyone’s invited to join us on June 25th. Anyone who does anything and wants to know everyone who’s doing everything, please come so we can all get more done!
Child-friendly, 100% Halal, Alcohol-free,
